A wonderful cottage for that special break whether it be a holiday with the children, a romantic weekend for two or a family gathering bringing together friends from afar. It is also ideal for families that include those who are less mobile.

You can enjoy the peace of the sunny conservatory to catch up on that promised reading, or go on one of the many walks - several of which start just outside the gate, or explore the extensive RSPB reserve at Lke Vyrnwy or take part in the many other activities nearby.

Cilfach Cottage lies just across the border into Wales, not far from the main road network. Here in the Cain Valley you will find Llanfyllin, an ancient town that serves the hinterland of the Berwyn Mountain’s eastern slopes with their stunning landscape views and the picturesque Lake Vyrnwy.

Cilfach, the ancient name of the barn, translates from Welsh as Quiet Retreat. The holiday cottage lies just on the edge of the town, but it is only a four minutes' walk to the centre. Although the population is small, the town has a wide variety of shops including a new Spar minimarket. a first class butcher, a vegetable and wholefood shop and places to eat.

Children are welcome, but we are unable to accept pets. The cottage is non smoking.

See the Accommodation page for more details about the cottage itself ir the Things to Do page for all the things you might do if you could tear yourself away from the wonderful conservatory or garden.

We are the home of the acclaimed Edistone log stores made from timber grown in our own forest nearby.

Lovely cottage in a lovely place. A great find and one of the best cottages we have stayed at. Weather was good when it needed to be and we visited some great places. Thanks Keith and Decia. Andy, Jeanette and Chris (Wirral)

Again a fabulous stay at Cilfach. It was so good we are doing it again next year – for the third time. See you next year. Linda, Patrick and friends (Nottingham)

We all really enjoyed our visit to Cilfach and the surrounding area, it is certainly a place we would visit again. I will certainly pass on the cottage details to other friends and family as a top class place to stay. Thank you both for a lovely welcome. Carolyn and friends (Rhondda).

We have stayed in many cottages but Cilfach is by far the best. Lovely spacious and comfortable rooms. After the first morning, we got to grips with the ‘Esse’ and enjoyed cooking breakfasts from then on. This part of Wales is very beautiful and we would like to come back again. Jean and Cecil (London)

This was definitely the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in. Thank you Decia and Keith for your kindness and for the little extras – they were much appreciated. – Liz and Paul
